Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of South County Hospital, HARI Board of Trustees


Aaron Robinson currently serves as President and CEO of South County Health, having joined Rhode Island’s only independent health system on April 1, 2019. He brings with him more than 21 years of diverse and progressive health care leadership experience gained in community hospitals and health system environments.

Aaron joined South County Health from Florida, where he served as CEO of Community Hospitals and was also System Service Line Executive for Heart & Vascular services at Health First. Located in Rockledge, FL, Health First is a $2 billion Integrated Health System of hospitals, a multi-specialty medical group, post-acute & wellness services, and a health plan. In this role, Aaron had responsibility for three community hospitals with a total of 386 acute beds, 1700 FTEs, $332 million in system revenue, and the system’s premiere and most profitable service line.

A native Midwesterner, Aaron began his leadership career at SSM Health Care, an $8 billion multi-hospital system headquartered in St. Louis. From his initial management position as manager of SSM’s large and growing multi-site rehabilitation business, Aaron was entrusted with increasing strategic, operational and service line development responsibilities, culminating with his appointment as Vice President, Hospital Operations/System Oncology Services Executive at SSM’s 410 bed St. Joseph Health Center. From there, he was recruited to HealthFirst in 2014 as that organization’s Oncology Service Line Executive and System Vice President overseeing the Outpatient & Wellness Division.

Aaron holds an MBA from Lindenwood University in St. Louis and a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His early background as a practicing physical therapist has helped direct him as a leader to always seek better ways to deliver care. He has served on numerous community and industry boards.

He and his wife Kelly have three children, Grace, age 18, Jonah, age 16, and Oliver, age 12. The Robinsons are in love with Rhode Island and Southern New England.
